Non-Invasive Treatment

UltraShape® is a completely non-invasive procedure, bypassing many of the problems that can occur with traditional liposuction. There are absolutely no incisions required, and the procedure does not require any type of anesthesia to keep the patient comfortable.

Because of the gentle nature of the treatment, no downtime or major recovery period is generally required following UltraShape®. Patients can typically return to normal activities right away with no ill effects. After just a few hours, the fact that the treatment was performed should be nearly undetectable. The only common side effect of the treatment is slight swelling that usually goes away by the next day.

Common Treatment Areas

Problem areas can occur on many different areas of the body, but most people suffer from stubborn fat in the most common areas of fat retention. UltraShape® is often used to treat the following areas:

• Stomach
• Hips/love handles
• Inner and outer thighs
• Bra line
• Knee fat pads

It may be possible to treat other areas with UltraShape®, but more unusual areas are up to the doctor’s discretion. More common areas of treatment have demonstrated consistently good results from UltraShape® treatment. Fat in these areas is often unresponsive to diet and exercise making them excellent target zones for the treatment.

Safety

Because there is no anesthesia used during the procedure, the risks to the patient are greatly reduced, and complications are very rare. Additionally, UltraShape® technology is the same as that which is used for fetal imaging and other medical diagnostics, making the treatment is extremely safe. As no incisions are made or fat suction used, trauma to the tissue is slight, and risk of infection is almost non-existent. All things considered, UltraShape® is one of the safest spot fat reduction methods available today.

How Many Treatments Are Necessary?

While good results do take a few treatments to accomplish, most patients find the process very easy to complete. Generally, three treatments are required for significant results. These sessions must be spaced about two weeks apart. After this time, patients should be able to enjoy the long-term benefits of the results, as long as body weight is maintained.

When Do Results Become Apparent?

After the prescribed number of treatments, results should start becoming evident. Many patients report a loss of two to three inches in the treated area, which can result in the patient going down in a dress size or two. Localized fat in the treated areas should be greatly reduced, since many of the fat cells in these areas will have been destroyed.

Are Results Permanent?

Fat cells do not grow back following UltraShape® treatment, so in essence, the treatment is permanent. However, that does not mean that the patient will be unable to gain weight following treatment. Diligence is required to help prevent other cells from filling up and causing weight gain later on, which can compromise long-term results.

It is important to know that while UltraShape® can produce noticeable results in fat reduction, it is not realistic for patients to expect miracles. Patients need to understand what can be accomplished before they elect to undergo treatment, in order to avoid disappointment. That said, patients with realistic expectations are generally thrilled with their UltraShape® results.

Maintenance

Patients who are interested in undergoing UltraShape® will need to make an additional commitment to their results, beyond the treatments themselves. Like any type of liposuction, UltraShape® does not prevent weight loss following the procedure. While fat cells do not “re-grow,” the remaining fat cells can still expand, causing weight gain in the future. Because of this, candidates for UltraShape® should be ready to commit to leading a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain the results of the procedure and enjoy them for many years to come.

Skin Considerations

Skin does not have the opportunity to retract slowly when a large amount of fat is lost all at once, such as after traditional liposuction or rapid weight loss. Unfortunately, these factors can cause skin to become saggy and unable to re-shape itself. Good skin elasticity goes a long way toward healthy skin that can recover from drastic changes such as these, but there’s only so much it can do on its own. UltraShape® technology is gentle and helps stubborn problem areas break down fat in a controlled, subtle manner, which allows the skin to naturally retract as fat cells are destroyed.

Who Is a Candidate?

Because UltraShape® is intended for the purpose of treating problem areas, good candidates for the procedure are generally physically fit and have reached most of their weight goals. Healthy patients with reasonable expectations and stable weight are most likely to enjoy good results from fat spot reduction with UltraShape®. Because the treatment is so gentle, these are the only real requirements for undergoing the procedure. Only a qualified provider can clear patients for cosmetic treatments, and they will need to schedule an appointment to discuss the procedure and have their candidacy assessed.

Though UltraShape® is extremely gentle and well-tolerated, there are some conditions which make it inadvisable to undergo UltraShape® treatments. These include:

• Pregnancy
• Skin cancer in treatment area
• Skin infection in treatment area
• Unrealistic expectations
• Obesity
