WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE ENDYMED™ 3DEEP® RF PROCEDURE?

During the procedure the EndyMed™ 3DEEP® RF hand piece will be constantly moved around the treatment area, a gel will be used on the skin to make this easy to manoeuvre. The skin will warm up, feeling like a hot shower or bath. The practitioner’s expertise and the advanced controls and safety features will help make the procedure comfortable and optimize safety. The deep skin layers are gradually heated, while the skin surface remains around 40° C (hot shower temperature). Your skin temperature will be constantly monitored. Depending on the size of the treatment area, treatment may take between 30-45 minutes. The treatment is relaxing, pain free and carries no side effects.

A treatment area such as the face will normally take 30 to 45 minutes. There is no down-time and normal activities can be resumed although high-level UV protection using Obagi SPF and our Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar is always recommended during the course of treatments.
A course of treatment normally consists of 6 sessions 1 to 2 weeks apart. The results are due to natural changes in the skin and as such are ongoing and long lasting. These can be enhanced with good evidence based skincare, UV protection and periodic top-up treatments.

What is the recovery time?

Following treatment, you may immediately resume all routine activities. You may notice slight redness around the treatment area, which usually disappears in a couple of hours.

How many treatments are required to see the results?

According to your treatment program, your laser technician will offer a series of treatments, up to six, in intervals of one to two weeks. You should start to see improvement in your skin following the second treatment and additional improvement will gradually appear as the treatment course progresses.
As new healthier collagen is formed, tighter, more natural looking and firmer skin will be produced. The gradual improvement in your skin will continue even after completion of the treatment series.

How long does the effect last?

The improvement in skin quality should be long lasting. However, maintaining the results of, for example, body contouring or body tightening treatments, is also subject to a person’s calorie intake, exercise and lifestyle. So, a balanced diet, proper exercise program and healthy lifestyle will help to maintain the desired treatment effects.

WHY DOES OUR SKIN LOSE ELASTICITY AND START TO SAG?

Our skin is tightened by a structure of collagen fibres in the dermis in a network of skin cells, fibres and blood capillaries. Below in the hypo-dermis or subcutaneous layer there is supporting fat tissue with strong and elastic collagen fibres, and the circulatory system.

As we age the collagen fibres break down and become less structured and elastic, and our repair and replacement of these becomes less efficient. External factors such as UV exposure and lifestyle can make this worse. This results in wrinkles and the changes in the deeper tissue lead to sagging often known as skin laxity.
In body areas, changes in and around fat cells in the hypodermis, where the supporting collagen fibres and circulatory system become impaired, lead to them becoming less compact and structured causing a raised and dimpled appearance of the skin, a problem known as cellulite.

Even with a healthy lifestyle and minimal sun exposure, our skin gradually loses its firm, youthful look. Aging, cumulative sun exposure, multiple pregnancies, and weight fluctuation are all factors which affect the strength and elasticity of the collagen fibers in our skin. This, in turn, causes the wrinkles and sagging skin

CAN SAGGING SKIN BE CORRETED NON-SURGIALLY?

Skin laxity can be improved by employing novel non-invasive energy-based technologies. Our experience has shown that when using the EndyMed 3DEEP technology, it is possible to tighten loose skin and promote production of new, healthier collagen.

ARE ALL RADIOFREQUENCY DEVICES THE SAME?

Medical aesthetic practitioners and clinics normally use high specification devices certified as medical devices by a notified body in the EU and cleared by the FDA in the USA.

Also until EndyMed 3DEEP the technologies available had limitations; high level and relatively uncontrolled RF energy has been used to heat the target areas in the dermis and hypo-dermis but this can cause excessive heating in non-target areas. Technologies developed to control this can result in the RF energy being delivered too superficially in the skin. Both approaches can limit the efficacy and predictability of treatments, cause pain, and increase safety risks.

WHAT IS SKIN TIGHTENING WITH RADIO FREQUENCY AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Radiofrequency (RF), is an advanced technology and a form of electromagnetic energy, is used in medical aesthetic procedures to transmit energy to the deep dermal and hypo-dermal areas of the skin, areas where other medical laser and light devices cannot penetrate.
If the RF is focused and sufficient in these areas it will cause the collagen in the skin (dermis) to heat to a level where it will contract and start to tighten and lift the skin. If sufficient energy is delivered, the collagen will contract, providing an immediate change in skin appearance.

This immediate effect is then followed by the production of new collagen, which re-models and tightens naturally over time, producing an underlying natural firming, tightening and lifting of the skin. A result of collagen remodeling is tighter younger looking skin. RF has 2 major intrinsic advantages over other technologies: 1) it penetrates deeper into the skin and 2) it is not affected by skin colour.

How many treatments are required to see results?
