Laser Hair Removal
Traditional hair reduction methods — shaving, waxing, tweezing and creams — are all time consuming and short lasting. Until recently, the only effective method for hair reduction was electrolysis, a slow and painful process in which follicles are individually destroyed by electrical current. Since 1995, however, lasers have proven to be effective in providing fast and long-lasting hair reduction.

Cascades MedSpa offers the ultimate in safe hair reduction technology even for darker skin types. Specific wavelengths of laser light or intense pulsed light are used to destroy hair roots. Most experts feel this is better than any other current technology. It is faster and has fewer complications than other methods. Some hair reduction occurs initially, but maximum hair loss may not be seen for several weeks after each treatment. In general, multiple treatments will be needed depending on the area being treated and on what percentage of the hair is actively growing.
Darker hair has more melanin and is more easily removed. People with dark skin and light hair are difficult to treat. The average number of treatments can vary anywhere from four to six treatments (sometimes more) and varies from person to person. The treatments are usually scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks to allow optimal hair growth in the area being treated.
Laser Hair Removal is used to permanently reduce unwanted hair growth and can be used on many areas of the body:
- Upper lip
- Chin and upper neck
- Thighs and lower legs
- Bikini area
- Upper/lower arms, underarms and hands
- Back, chest and stomach
- Nose, ears and eyebrows

The industry often refers to laser hair removal as a gateway procedure as it offers an entry point into the aesthetic market for patients and practitioners alike.
excel HR combines a high-power 755 nm Alexandrite laser and Cutera’s proven long-pulse 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for safe, effective high-volume hair removal on all skin types. The combination of wavelengths not only allows for effective hair removal, but is also a solution for epidermal pigmented lesions, vascular lesions and Cutera’s signature laser genesis skin revitalization procedure.
excel HR Technology
Proven Wavelengths
excel HR combines the gold standard laser wavelengths for hair removal. The 755 nm Alexandrite laser is highly absorbed by melanin making it an ideal solution for finer hair on skin types I-III. Because of the high melanin absorption characteristics, it has also been proven to provide long-term results on epidermal pigmented lesions.
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG is the safest wavelength for permanent hair reduction on darker skin types and tanned skin. By selecting the appropriate spot size, this laser can also be used for treating facial and leg veins and perform laser genesis procedure.
truPulse Delivery with Index Matching
Unique to Cutera, the truPulse technology delivers constant, sustained energy throughout the pulse duration to ensure consistent performance and proven clinical outcomes for your patients.
excel HR’s index matching delivery results in more efficient coupling of laser energy to target structures. Index matching allows backscattered light to escape, further protecting the epidermis from heat build-up while maintaining treatment efficacy.

Superior Contact Cooling
excel HR utilizes sapphire contact cooling to provide continuous cooling, maximizing your patients’ comfort and treatment safety.2 In a patient preference study that measured comfort and satisfaction for laser hair removal, 100% of the patients preferred excel HR over a comparable, competitive laser hair removal procedure.3
